The lioness has returned with more prey. This time it was the prettiest set of playing cards I’ve ever seen.

Spanish playing cards
They’re a bridge set and the box says they were made in Spain. The number cards are plain, but use a lovely font. It’s the face cards that make the set. Each face card of each suit is different and they’re all pretty! The aces have the same floral wreath around them and the jokers are in the style of the face cards. The pair of decks comes in a little white faux leather case. I’d guess the set is from the 50’s or 60’s. (could be the early 70’s, but no more recent) They’d been opened, but clearly never played with. It’s very tempting to keep them for myself but they are going out for sale. If I manage to come up with a project that shows them properly before they find a home then that will be that, but I’d feel bad about “consuming” them for art. They are art.
